Fairmont Austin Opening is Delayed – Yet Again

The opening date for the $370 million Fairmont Austin Hotel has been pushed back for the fourth time in 2017. The 37-story, 1,048-key development in downtown Austin at Red River and East Cesar Chavez streets will be the city’s largest hotel if it ever opens.

The hotel was originally scheduled for a June 2017 opening. That date was pushed back to August 2017, then late fall, then November 2017. Now the opening date looks like it will be early 2018.

According to a statement from the Fairmont sent to the Austin-American Statesman, the organization is focused on recruiting, new-employee orientation and systems and service standards training. “We are actively working to complete the series of final inspections, permits and brand requirements necessary before we can welcome our first guest,” the statement went on to say. Manchester Texas Financial Group is the hotel’s developer.
