Facebook Releases More Details About Menlo Park Campus
The latest renderings have surfaced of Facebook’s Frank Gehry-designed Menlo Park, CA campus expansion. The design retains the large, open-floor industrial-style feel, but architects are softening the ground-level perspective as a way to diminish the massing.
Facebook plans to redevelop the former TE Connectivity campus by adding two buildings totaling 962,000 square feet and a 200-room hotel. The buildings feature a single-level of open workspaces, topped with green roofs, and built above parking.
The site plan includes a linear park that runs through the two new structures and a pedestrian and bike bridge that connects the campus to the Bay Trail across Bayfront Expressway.
Gehry Partners LLP’s Craig Webb says the goal was to “create diversity in architecture” as a way to achieve differentiation between the buildings.
