Expansion Planned for Joy Global’s Facility

Joy Global Inc. is planning an office and industrial expansion at its plant in south Longview, TX.  The expansion will cost approximately $4.4 million. The company, headquartered in Milwaukee, hired KSA of Longview as the general contractor.

The expansion will likely apply to the portion of Joy Global that Komatsu Ltd. placed under contract for $3.7 billion in July 2016, rather than the former Joy Global steel mill at 2400 MacArthur St. that Nucor Corp. put under contract for $29 million at around the same time. Both companies indicated that the acquisitions will close by mid-2017.

Joy Global was the largest independent maker of underground mining equipment. It has occupied the former Letourneau Technologies plant since 2011.
