Encore Park’s Plans Continue Evolving

Encore Park, a preservation/gentrification effort along downtown Dallas’ Young Street, has made updates to its development plan. Specifically, the park’s footprint has increased by 30%, and the Museum of Street Culture will open in fall 2017. The park will be across the street from Trump Hotel’s Scion brand, though there is no timeline for the complete finish out.

The main building, 508 Park, a former recording studio for Warner Brothers, was acquired by First Presbyterian Church of Dallas, and has been undergoing renovation for the past two years. Meanwhile, a community garden and amphitheater are already open.

The project is being spearheaded by the Stewpot of First Presbyterian Church of Dallas, which offers services to the homeless. According to Oglesby Greene Architects, which is designing the concept, the park will target nearby residential areas, clients who rely on the Stewpot’s services, and those who attend, and volunteer at the church.
