Employers, Transit and NTTA Addressing Traffic Issues
New office buildings and corporate campuses in Plano, TX mean more than 15,000 employees will be coming to this far northern Dallas suburb within the next 12-18 months. As the wave of companies move into the Legacy and Legacy West developments, and combine with the companies already there, Plano is headed for massive gridlock.
To avoid the potential of parking-lot traffic, the city of Plano will establish a transportation management association, which will include employers, governments entities, developers and building owners. Employers will collaborate to stagger work hours and consider options such as telecommuting. The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) is in the middle of a massive expansion to meet the growing traffic need. And the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) established new bus express routes to make the Legacy area more accessible to commuters from the east and south.
