Empire State Building Saves $800K-Per-Year
A mobile app reduced the cost to operate the Empire State Building by more than $800,000 per year.
“The app has been a benefit to the engineering team… they generated savings six times greater than Cortex originally projected,” said Dana Robbins Schneider with JLL, who has led JLL’s work with the Empire State ReBuilding Program. Since it began in 2009, the program has refurbished more than 6,500 windows at the Empire State Building, among other improvements.
The app, provided by Cortex Building Intelligence, helps engineers operate the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems more precisely — without compromising tenant satisfaction.
