Elk Grove Village Reaches Hotel Development Agreement

Elk Grove Village trustees recently approved an agreement with Sunrise Retail Development LLC to purchase and develop the village-owned Elk Grove Hotel site through a phased purchase and development process.

The Elk Grove Hotel was recently demolished. When complete, the redevelopment will see a Tru Hotel by Hilton and a Country Inn & Suites constructed, along with two restaurants.

The village also purchased the former Motel 6 property across the street from the former Elk Grove Hotel. Mayor Craig Johnson said demolition of that site would be completed by October.

The former Elk Grove Hotel sits only a few blocks east of the 1.2 million square foot, $1-billion Elk Grove Technology Park, now under construction.

The agreement with Sunrise Retail calls for three phases of development. Phase one is set to begin no later than September 2020, while phase three is to be completed by the end of 2022.

Connect Chicago Fall 2019 will take place Oct. 29 in Chicago. For more information, or to register, click here.
