Eldorado Completes Buy of Riverfront Casino in Elgin

Eldorado Resorts has completed its purchase of the Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin, IL from MGM Resorts International and a venture partner. The casino on the banks of the Fox River traded for $327.5 million in cash.

“Grand Victoria Casino is one of the premier casinos in the Chicagoland market,” said Eldorado CEO Gary Carno. “Given the quality of the property, our immediate focus is on further enhancing the guest experience and operating results, as there is no need to undertake capital investments at the property beyond normal maintenance expenses.”

He added that as with Eldorado’s other recent acquisitions, “we intend to quickly implement our proven integration and operating strategies, allowing us to increase margins and cash flow from the property and thus reduce the purchase multiple.”

MGM Resorts acquired its 50% interest in Grand Victoria Casino in connection with its acquisition of Mandalay Resorts Group in 2005.
