El Paso Water to Build Light Industrial Park

El Paso Water is planning a new light-industrial park in Canutillo, in the northwestern El Paso area. The 57-acre park will be on Interstate 10 near Los Mochis Drive, north of the Outlet Shoppes at El Paso.

The local utility obtained a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce, which will help fund the $4.7 million project. The federal grant will be used to install water and sewer infrastructure on the vacant property. The unnamed project is slated for completion in the next 12-18 months, and El Paso Water will offer parcels for sale or lease.

Marcela Navarrete, the utility’s vice president of strategic financial and management services, told El Paso Inc. that the property’s proximity to I-10 and the Santa Teresa Port of Entry makes it a good fit for warehousing and light industrial operations.
