Edinburg Construction Numbers Double, Year Over Year

The value of construction permits issued in Edinburg, TX during February 2017 totaled $9.2 million, which wasn’t much change from February 2016. However, in a year-to-date analysis, total construction from January-February 2017 totaled $102.6 million, more than double the $45.3 million combined for January-February 2016.

The reason for the increase is due to a construction permit valued at $80 million for the city-owned Bert Ogden Arena. Still, according to Edinburg mayor Richard Garcia, the city is on track to break 2016’s numbers. “We are on track to exceed $209 million (in construction spending) by the end of (2017),” the mayor said, during his recent State of the City speech.
