DTLA to Get a Proper Hotel

Los Angeles-Based The Kor Group and joint-venture partner, Stork/Alma Development Group, started construction on the Downtown LA Proper Hotel, a 148-room lifestyle property. The hotel will be managed and branded by luxury lifestyle operator Proper Hospitality and is slated to open in Spring 2018. Omgivning is the architect on the project.

Housed in the former YWCA building in DTLA’s Historic Broadway Corridor, the property will introduce a high-end lifestyle hospitality experience. Planned amenities include a destination restaurant, a rooftop pool and lounge, and the renovation of some of the building’s historic, double-height spaces into unique suites and public areas.

Stork/Alma Development Group’s Frank Stork says they were drawn to the site and its “unique characteristics” three years ago. “We are thrilled to have finalized the capitalization and started construction, as we can finally begin to unlock the building’s full potential,” he says.
