Drug-Ring Barber Shops Headed to Auction Block
The U.S. government announced it would be auctioning off nine San Antonio-area properties – including some barber shops – that had been part of a former drug ring. The ring in question peddled $8 million in heroin, according to the Internal Revenue Service.
The properties were more than 20 targeted for seizure during a joint investigation by the IRS and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration into the Acapulco Barber Shops chain. The auction is scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 11 at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter, 101 Bowie St.
Properties to be auctioned will include a former barber college at 364 Castroville Rd., barber shops at 7519 Somerset Rd., 1829 Nogalitos St. and 356 Moursund Blvd., and a vacant commercial lot at 3727 Nogalitos St. CWS Marketing Group Inc. is handling the auctions.
