Douglaston Completes Final Phase of South Bronx MXU
Douglaston Development has completed Crossroads Plaza in the South Bronx. Built on the site of an abandoned gas station in three phases, the three-building, mixed-income, mixed-use development provides 425 affordable units, a 20,000-square-foot pedestrian plaza, three commercial spaces totaling 60,000 square feet and a children’s playground.
“Crossroads Plaza was developed to truly serve the needs of this neighborhood, and we’re proud to have taken a once-vacant site and transformed it into a vibrant hub of quality, affordable apartments, community space and retail space,” said Jeffrey Levine, chairman of Douglaston Development.
Louise Carroll, the city’s Housing Preservation and Development Commissioner, noted that “Crossroads Plaza has become the anchor for the eastern end of 149th Street, a major retail and transportation strip running across the South Bronx. In addition to creating nearly 500 new affordable housing units in mixed-use properties, this development has also stimulated other new residential construction on the surrounding blocks.”
The Connect Apartments Conference will take place June 20, 2019 in Los Angeles. For more information, or to register, click here.
