Dollar General to Build $91M Distribution Center
Dollar General is planning a $91 million, 750,000-square-foot distribution center in Florida, Orange County, NY. The discount retailer acquired 103 acres from the Montgomery County Industrial Development Agency for $1.5 million. The distribution hub will employ 430, who will store and ship merchandise to 800 stores throughout the northeastern United states.
“To bring in some 400 jobs is huge for the county,” Ken Rose, director of the Montgomery County Business Development Center, told the Albany Business Review. Construction will begin on the facility in late spring 2017, with a planned fall 2018 completion date.
Dollar General selected the site, which is about 35 miles west of Albany, NY, because of its proximity to Exit 27 off Interstate 90. Clayco Inc., based in Illinois, is the general contractor. Leo A Daly of Omaha, NE is the architectural engineering firm, and Elan Design is the civil engineer.
