Dollar General Readies for $85M Facility in GA
Dollar General Corp. has acquired land in Jackson, GA, which will serve as the discount retailer’s 15th distribution facility. The $85 million project will launch this year, with completion scheduled for summer/fall of next year.
The project is anticipated to create 500 jobs that will be needed to run the distribution center, as well as hundreds of construction jobs. The distribution center will serve more than 1,000 stores in Georgia and surrounding states. The Goodlettsville, TN-based retailer employs more than 5,000 in 700 stores throughout Georgia.
Dollar General’s 14 other distribution centers are located in Alabama, California, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.
