Disney Unveils Detailed “Star Wars”-Inspired Land Model
The Walt Disney Co. kicked off the D23 Expo fan convention by unveiling its most revealing look at “Star Wars” land. A 50-foot-wide model depicted the new 14-acre area and its attractions now under construction at Disneyland in Anaheim. “Star Wars”-themed lands at Disneyland and Disney World in Orlando are scheduled to open in 2019.
The company called it the “most ambitious” land it has built so far, as well as the largest themed expansion in the history of Disneyland – though it has yet to name the new land.
It is modeled after the landscape and architecture found in the “Star Wars” films including rocky terrain, lush vegetation and exotic buildings featuring earth walls, domes and rock formations inhabited by droids and aliens.
The area will feature two major anchor rides, including a Millennium Falcon simulator ride, and another that pits the First Order against the Resistance.
