Development of La Cantera Town Center Launched — At Last

General contractor Sundt Construction Inc. launched phase one of construction on the La Cantera Town Center, a 1.8 million-square-foot, mixed-use development in northwest San Antonio, adjacent to the Shops at La Cantera. USAA Real Estate, the developer, initially announced the project in 2008. The developer filed county paperwork in 2016 to establish a master plan, and to create the nonprofit La Cantera Town Center Owners Association Inc.

Upon buildout, the 172-acre project near Loop 1604 and Interstate 10 will hold boutique hotels and office space. The current phase will include two parks, an outdoor amphitheater and trail system. A residential component of the town center, the 300-unit Celeste at La Cantera apartment complex, has been completed. The next residential phase will be a senior-living project with 100 units.
