Developer Plans Rehab of Seniors Housing at North Park Village

The rehabilitation of 180 affordable senior housing at North Park Village Apartments would be made possible by the approval of an ordinance introduced Monday by Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

Elderly Housing Development and Operations Corporation (EHDOC) plans to rehabilitate 180 units of senior affordable housing at North Park Village Apartments, located on a portion of the historic Chicago Municipal Tuberculosis Sanitarium campus, which was built in 1911.

Support of the project would include $3,000,000 in reservation of donation tax credits; issuance of $3,815,000 in multifamily loans; and a 99-year ground lease of the city-owned Building H with EHDOC North Park Village Charitable Corporation.
The overall campus is in the process of being designated as a Chicago Landmark as well as a designated Historic District by the National Park Service.
