Developer Plans MXU on Site Considered for Minnesota Vikings Stadium
St. Paul, MN-based Wellington Management proposes development of Lexington Meadows, a 32-acre retail project within a larger 80-acre parcel in Blaine, MN. The site is part of what once was proposed as a 640-acre Minnesota Vikings stadium and $1.67-billion retail complex.
The team abandoned plans for the site in 2006, largely because the site south of 109th Avenue NE is predominantly wetlands. The majority of the land, owned since 2013 by a subsidiary of Allina Health, is designated as wetlands and would remain so under the Wellington’s plan.
The proposed development includes a grocery store and up to nine other smaller commercial buildings envisioned for retailers and restaurant concepts not found elsewhere in the city. Lexington Meadows would also include a 189-unit, four-story, affordable senior housing project to be developed by Dominium, a Plymouth, MN-based multifamily housing developer.
