Craft Beer Retailer Snags Final Space at East Village MXU

The entire ground-floor retail space at Shift, a newly-completed 20-story, 368-unit residential tower located in Downtown San Diego’s East Village neighborhood, is fully leased. The final deal within the 18,840-square-foot space was claimed by Ale Tales, a San Diego-based craft beer bottle shop, tap room and restaurant.

Ale Tales will join Red Hat Coffee, Shelton Family Cleaners and The Boxing Club at the property located at J Street and Island Avenue, between 15th and 16th Streets. The Boxing Club and Red Hat Coffee are now open. Shelton Family Cleaners is expected to open in spring 2019.

Colliers International’s David Maxwell, Serena Patterson and Bill Shrader represented the landlord and developer of Shift, LMC, a Lennar Company brand focused on multifamily development.

Maxwell says, “We’re excited to have created a great of mix of beverage, fitness and service concepts that fill a demand for this pocket of the expanding East Village neighborhood.”
