County Approves $330M Dana Point Harbor Redevelopment

Newport Beach, CA-based Dana Point Harbor Partners secured unanimous approval from the Orange County Board of Supervisors of a master lease agreement to begin a $330-million renovation of the 47-year-old Dana Point Harbor. The development team is comprised of Burnham Ward Properties (commercial core), R.D. Olson Development (hotel) and Bellwether Financial Group (marina and dry stack storage).

Supervisor Lisa Bartlett told the Orange County Register, “The harbor is over 47 years old. We’re tired of using Band-Aids. Now is the time to move forward.”

The current plan envisions reconstructing the commercial core, east and west marinas, Marina Inn Hotel and 52 guest slips. Construction on an 1,800-car parking structure is anticipated to commence as early as next year. Work on Dana Wharf and the land side would follow. Construction on the docks and two hotels will start once entitlements are received within 24 to 30 months.
