Costa Mesa’s Triangle May Finally Lease Up

The Triangle, a 200,000-square-foot retail-entertainment center that has been plagued by vacancies over the years, may finally have full occupancy by the fall, say company officials.

This drop in vacancy could take place because the Costa Mesa Planning Commission is allowing it to have different businesses in areas of the center for which they weren’t previously permitted.

The center has already seen some major improvements over the last few years. Bought by Greenlaw Partners in 2010, the firm put $30 million into the facility in renovations and rebranded it from a shopping center into a retail-entertainment venue. Since 2012, it has gone from 20 percent to 88 percent leased.

The center’s Sutra Lounge is moving into a larger space that was vacated years ago by Niketown, and owners hope to add a retail store and a restaurant.
