CoreSite Launches Work on Downtown Data Center
Denver-based CoreSite Realty Corporation has begun construction on Phase I of its new colocation data center location in downtown Chicago, known as CH2. The company announced the new facility, located a mile from its existing CH1 facility, in February 2018.
Matt Gleason, VP and GM at CoreSite, said CH2 will be “an enterprise-class, purpose-built data center designed to deliver 18 megawatts of power and 169,000 net rentable square feet of capacity in downtown Chicago.
“We expect to complete the first phase of the building next year, delivering an efficient data center design capable of supporting high density requirements and enabling customers to solve for mission critical, performance-sensitive hybrid cloud applications,” he added.
CoreSite expects to construct CH2 in three phases, with 6 mW of capacity per phase and a total estimated cost of $190 to $210 million at full build-out. It will be connected to CH1 via high-count dark fiber.
