Convene, For Five Coffee Brew Up Chicago Flagship

New York City-based For Five Coffee Roasters and Convene have partnered on a downtown flagship location at Sterling Bay’s 311 W. Monroe St. It’s the second collaboration between the two brands in Chicago, following the first site at 16 W. Adams St.

“We like to think this location represents the first step in For Five 2.0,” said For Five co-founder Tom Tsiplakos. “Working collectively with Convene’s design team has allowed us to create an architectural masterpiece inspired by the local Chicago scene that is different from anywhere else.”

Convene’s head of design, Kevin Denlinger, created architecture that’s intended to represent an evolution of the current café structure first implemented in 2016 in Midtown Manhattan. The firm’s German Villatoro and Tyler Allen realized the 311 W. Monroe location’s a-la-carte menu.

“We really pushed the envelope on its culinary traits, which go hand-in-hand with its groundbreaking design,” said Villatoro.
