Construction Underway on the Eco-Friendly, $2B Whisper Valley

EcoSmart Solutions, a subsidiary of Taurus Investment Holdings, has begun construction on the $2 billion Whisper Valley, a 2,000-acre master-planned community in East Austin. Upon completion, the community will offer more than 7,500 single-and multifamily homes, and more than two million square feet of commercial space.

Whisper Valley is also offering something else: Sustainability and affordability. Home prices start at $190,000, well below the market median value of $311,000. Additionally, the overall goal of the development is to provide net-zero energy-capable houses (i.e., houses that produce as much energy as they use).

The MPC will have a geothermal well running beneath, that will cut heating and cooling costs. The homes will have NEST thermostats and smart home sensors, along with solar panels on every roof, a 600-acre park and trail system, and a community farming platform that allows residents to raise their own produce.
