Construction Takes off on Southwest Airlines 141K-SF Expansion
Construction is underway on an expansion project for Southwest Airlines’ Leadership and Aircrew Development Center, a 141,000-square-foot project that will add more space for flight simulators and smaller training devices. The three-story project is being built at Southwest Airlines’ campus in Dallas, and is being led by McCarthy Building Cos. The project is anticipated to open in fall 2020.
The carrier, at present, trains an average of 850 pilots at the LEAD center. “This expansion allows us to plan for the future while continuing our commitment to provide the industry’s best training to our growing pilot workforce,” said Southwest’s Alan Kasher. “This investment paves the way to allow for training of more pilots at any given time, as well as prepares Southwest for future pilot growth.”
