Construction Starts on Center for Infrastructure Renewal
Texas A&M University launched construction on the Center for Infrastructure Renewal at its RELLIS campus in Bryan, TX. The 138,000-square-foot research, testing and training facility is the first building to go north at the university system’s new 2,000-acre campus. Completion is scheduled for 2018.
The goal of the center is to focus on emerging technologies and solutions, to help deal with the nation’s crumbling infrastructure. Researchers at the facility will partner with the private sector and A&M’s Engineering Experiment Station and Transportation Institute, to identify solutions to a large problem.
RELLIS Campus, formerly Texas A&M-Riverside, was once the site of the former Bryan Air Force Base. The campus represents a joint venture between the Texas A&M University System and Blinn College, a local community college, to create a multimillion-dollar research hub and education center.
