Construction Starts on 154 “Passive House” Apartments
The 154 affordable apartments at the Morris II housing development will be so energy efficient that the rooms will often be comfortable on frigid winter days and in the heat of summer, without needing to run the heating and cooling systems.
Construction started July 26, 2017, at the 15-story building at 2956 Park Ave. in the Melrose neighborhood of the Bronx. It will meet tough standards set by the Passive Housing Institute U.S.
“This building will adhere to the leading standards in energy efficient construction in this country,” said Eugene Schneur, managing director and co-founder of Omni New York.
The $67.7 million development will be home to 46 formerly homeless households, and 108 very low, low and moderate income households.
