Construction Launches on 177-Unit Affordable Green Oaks Apartments

AMTEX Multi-Housing LLC began construction on Green Oaks Apartments, a 177-unit affordable multifamily project on Houston’s northeast side. The $21.4 million development is scheduled for completion by May 2021.

According to the developer, the project is supposed to “close the substantial shortage of affordable housing units in Houston.” Because of the number of families in the area that qualify for housing assistance, and those who are living in poverty, the Houston Housing Authority is interested in increasing the number of affordable housing units in the area, according to a statement from AMTEX.

Green Oaks Apartments, at 1475 Gears Rd., will offer one and two-bedroom floor plans, along with a pool, courtyard and clubhouse. Other amenities will include computer and job training, parenting classes, health and nutrition programs and supportive services.
