Comprehensive Plan Nearing the Finish Line

The city of Texarkana, TX will host its third, and final, public engagement/feedback meeting for the city’s Comprehensive Plan Update on April 20, 2017. At that time, draft recommendations for each element of the update will be presented, with attendees encouraged to provide input for early priority actions and improvements in the plan’s proposed elements. These include Future Land Use, Parks and Trains, Mobility/Transportation, Urban Design, Downtown and Neighborhoods.

The meeting will cap off a nine-month process, which included monthly steering committee meetings, more than 1,600 residents’ comments, and two Comprehensive Plan meetings open to the public.

A spokesperson told Connect Media that following the final public meeting, public feedback will be compiled into a final draft. “We anticipate presenting the plan to our Planning & Zoning Commission in June 2017 and City Council consideration for an additional four public meetings,” she said. A final vote will be scheduled in August 2017.
