CodeNEXT 3.0 Just Released, Being Reviewed

The city of Austin released the third draft of its land development code rewrite – known as CodeNEXT. The long-awaited draft is the document’s first update since Sept. 15, 2017, and represents the city staff’s recommendation for a new land development code.

The updated plan calls for decreased density in central core neighborhoods, boosting density along city’s corridors, and more opportunities for affordable housing. The document also puts the brakes on demolitions, as they pertain to new developments

The draft is on its way to Austin’s land-use commissions for edits, before bouncing over to the city council for additional revision and potential adaptation.
