CIM, 1547 Expand Chicago Data Center Presence

In their second Chicago partnership and fifth overall, CIM Group and fifteenfortyseven Critical Systems Realty have acquired a five-megawatt data center located at 725 S Wells downtown for an undisclosed sum. The 66,000-square-foot facility was purchased from Digital Capital Partners, a Chicago-based wholesale carrier-neutral data center provider.

The acquisition follows CIM and 1547’s July 2018 purchase of what will become the Midway Technology Centre on Chicago’s South Side. Given its relatively low power costs and readily available access to trans-continental fiber networks, among other attributes, Chicago is one of the nation’s top data center markets.

725 S Wells is positioned atop the Chicago “Fiber Ring,” providing tenants with access to more than 15 different fiber carriers.

“This established facility adds to our growing portfolio of data center properties that we believe will serve both existing technology and enterprise tenants as well as new customers,” said 1547 CEO J. Todd Raymond.
