CHS Unloads Two Texas Hospitals
Community Health Systems Inc., (CHS) headquartered in Franklin, TN, sold its ownership interest in two Texas hospitals to HCA Healthcare. The two facilities sold were the 350-bed Tomball Regional Medical Center, 605 Holderrieth Blvd., in Tomball, north of Houston; and the 67-bed South Texas Regional Medical Center at 1905 SH 97 in Jourdanton, south of San Antonio. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The two hospitals are part of a planned divestiture of 30 hospitals that are being sold to reduce a $15 billion debt. Hospitals have been sold in Alabama, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
CHS continues operating 13 hospitals in Texas, mainly in secondary and tertiary markets. These include the Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin; The San Angelo Community Medical Center in San Angelo; and the Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro.
