Chinatown Owner Proposes Building 168-Key Hotel
The owner of an office and retail complex in Chinatown has proposed attaching a 168-key hotel to his building. The proposal by a venture of Che Mei Wong is up for consideration next week by the Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals.
A four-story structure housing the hotel would be built on the back side of the building at 2353 S. Wentworth Ave. It would represent the third hotel in the neighborhood, Crain’s Chicago Business reported.
Wong’s application specifies that the development would include a parking garage with 69 spaces. The existing retail and office complex, whose tenants include a U.S. Postal Service branch and a furniture showroom, would remain in place.
