Chicago’s Tops for Corporate Relocations Six Years Running

For the sixth consecutive year, Site Selection Magazine has named Chicago the leading city in America for corporate relocations. It has also been ranked, for the sixth year in a row, as the top U.S. city for direct foreign investment.

“This is a vote of confidence,” Mayor Rahm Emanuel said at a ceremony Monday opening the downtown headquarters of Tegus, which relocated its base of operations here from San Francisco.

Emanuel cited the diversity of the city’s economy, the strength of its university system giving rise to a wealth of talent, and Chicago’s cost of living compared to coastal cities.

“More and more companies know that their businesses can thrive here, but also that their people can thrive here,” said Andrea Zopp, CEO of World Business Chicago, during Monday’s ceremony. “It’s a privilege to be able to talk to companies about why they should be in Chicago.”
