Chicago Region Ranks Second in U.S. for Industrial Builds

Chicago ranks second only to the Inland Empire for its industrial development pipeline, according to CommercialCafe’s US Industrial Pipeline report. The region has 63 projects totaling 17.9 million square feet underway, not far behind the Inland Empire’s 19.8 million square feet. Dallas runs a close third behind Chicago.

Two of the top 10 current projects in the U.S. are in the Chicago region: Phases I-III of Venture One’s Stateline Corporate Park in Pleasant Prairie, WI, which will total 1.9 million square feet; and Buildings A and B of Interchange 55 Logistics Park in Romeoville, IL. Expected to be delivered in April and May, the properties are owned by CT Realty and total 1.3 million square feet.

Overall, 304 industrial projects totaling 104.6 million square feet are expected to be delivered in the U.S. this year. That compares to 270 projects and 105.7 million square feet brought on line in 2018.
