Chicago Further Eases Indoor Dining Restrictions
The city of Chicago said Tuesday it would ease indoor dining restrictions for a second consecutive week, allowing bars and restaurants to offer service at either 40% capacity or 50 people, whichever is lower.
Most recently, the city had allowed those businesses to serve customers at either 25% capacity or 50 people. When allowing indoor dining to resume in late January after a three-month pause, limits were capped at 25% or 25 people.
In a statement, the Chicago Restaurants Coalition, representing hundreds of Chicago voters, restaurant owners and other businesses, said its membership was “grateful for Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s decision today to increase restaurant indoor dining to 40% capacity immediately.
“At the same time, the Coalition wants the mayor and her team to join the Coalition’s Zoom call next Monday at 2 p.m. to discuss a new City Hall process to regulate restaurants in the COVID-19 pandemic.”
