Centene Moves Forward with 68-Acre Regional HQ Campus in NoCal

Construction on Centene Corp.’s 68-acre regional headquarters is moving forward as the Fortune 100 company dedicated a cornerstone of the campus. Located in the North Natomas region of Sacramento, it will offer five four-story buildings that will eventually house up to 5,000 employees.

The new hub is being touted as a win for the city’s Innovation and Growth Fund, which will pay Centene $9,000 for every new job created. To qualify for the incentive, the median salary for those positions must be at least $61,515, and the average salary must be above $64,078 a year.

St. Louis-based Centene already employs about 3,000 people in the Sacramento area. Most positions at the new campus will be in pharmacy management, accounting, IT, and healthcare administration.

The new facility will offer a number of employee amenities, including a stand-alone child care facility, cafeteria, and dining courtyard, fitness center, clinic, and pharmacy. The first phase of construction is scheduled to be completed in late summer 2020, with employees moving in beginning in the fourth quarter.

“California is an engine of commerce, and this LEED-certified campus is a natural fit for the fastest-growing major city in California,” said Centene CEO Michael Neidorff.
