Capital Raise Slows in Texas During Q3 2019
Capital raising for private companies in Texas slowed in Q3 2019, according to data presented by HRO Resources. During the quarter, Texas businesses raised $8.3 billion in funding, down 20% from the $10.7 billion raised in Q2 2019. Eighty companies in Q3 received funding, with the top three industries to attract capital being finance, technology/consulting services and energy.
HRO Resources surmised that the slowdown might be due to several factors, including a drop in consumer spending, trade uncertainty and global growth slowdown. The fourth-quarter outlook suggests more of the same — namely, a moderate pace for private investment, likely due to increasing economic uncertainty across the U.S.
