Canadian Developer Plans Micro Units as Part of 41-Story Seattle Tower Project

Vancouver, BC-based Burrard Group’s plan for the 41-story Nexus development in Seattle’s South Lake Union also encompass 41 tiny homes. The developer of the 389-unit luxury condominium tower partnered with the Low Income Housing Institute to build the 41 tiny homes.

Burrard Group’s Christian Chan told the Seattle Times, “On behalf of the homeowners of this building, we’re proud and excited to establish this partnership.”

Burrard Group will donate $250,000 to fund materials and utilities hookups for a new village envisioned to be built in either South Lake Union, the Central District or both, depending on city approvals. The nonprofit Institute serves as financial manager of Seattle’s nine tiny house villages that help get homeless individuals off the street, and transitioned into affordable or permanent supportive housing.

The developer reached the 93% pre-sold mark on the East Village project under construction, and expects to deliver later this year.
