Bush’s Chicken Flies into Abilene

Bush’s Chicken has winged its way into Abilene, TX, opening its first store in the city at 116 E.N. 10th St., a site formerly home to an Arby’s restaurant. Additionally, the Waco, TX-based fast-food chicken chain is already remodeling a second Abilene site at 125 S. Pioneer Dr., with the restaurant scheduled to open by the end of 2018.

Interestingly enough, Bush’s first location is neighbors with – a Chicken Express restaurant. Bush’s owner/operator Robert Davila told the Abilene Reporter News that the 10th Street location wasn’t to get into a pecking match with Chicken Express, as much as it was about the quality of the site, and the option for a two-building deal.

“It really fit our model,” Davila told the Reporter-News. “The building was almost perfect for a Bush’s Chicken.”
