Brookshire Selling Dairy Operations

Brookshire Grocery Co. is selling its dairy operations at 200 N. Fuller Ave. in Tyler, TX to Hiland Dairy Foods Co. of Missouri. The terms of the deal were undisclosed, with the most recent county assessment valuing the 38,000-square-foot facility at $1.2 million. According to public records, Brookshire owned the property since 2000.

Brookshire said it is selling the facility to focus more on retail stores. No layoffs are planned as part of the sale which, according to a Hiland spokeswoman, was part of the deal with the seller. Hiland, in fact, is planning capital improvements to the facility that could mean more jobs in the future.

“We are committed to growing these facilities in Tyler by investing capital dollars to expand our production capabilities,” Gary Aggus, CEO of Hiland Dairy, told the Longview News-Journal. He added that the acquisition aligns well with Hiland’s expansion plan into Texas.
