Brookfield, Lennar Debuts The Groves MXU

Brookfield Residential and Lennar opened The Groves in Whittier, a mixed-use development that includes 561 for-sale homes, 189 apartments, 150,000 square feet of retail, as well as parks and open space. The 75-acre community is located along Whittier Blvd. and transforms the site of an historic, former state school into one of the largest, new urban masterplans in SoCal.

The Groves’ apartment projects include Altura, a PLC Community slated to open early 2022, and a retail component being developed by Frontier Real Estate Investments. This includes the Heritage Court market hall and shops created from historic structures, as well as new-construction retail, with Stater Bros Markets, EoS Fitness, Chipotle, In-N-Out Burger and Raising Cane’s, expected to open late 2021.

The first historic building to re-open is The Commons, a restoration of the former chapel into an 11,000 square-foot club (pictured). The developers also report more than 160 homes have sold within the first five months of launching sales.
