Bowling Alley? Or Retail?

When MAJ Development Corp. acquired the AMF Pro 300 Lanes in summer 2016 for $4.8 million, the new owner planned to keep the facility at 3031 S.E. Powell Blvd. in Portland, OR open until the season’s bowling league was completed. A redevelopment on the 30,000 square feet would then take place, to make way for an undisclosed national retailer.

But Bowlmor AMF, owner of AMF Pro 300 Lanes, just issued a statement indicating it will stay open for the remainder of its lease, if not longer. MAJ Development applied for a rezoning variance on the property for a national retailer. However, Bowlmor AMF indicated that officials had yet to determine the variance. Additionally, Colie Edison, an AMF representative, indicated in a release that “we want to make it perfectly clear that we have no plans to leave this community any time soon.”
