BoA Lease Drives 754K-SF Office Tower Construction
Bank of America Corp. signed a lease with Skanska USA Commercial Development to take down 210,000 square feet at the developer’s as-yet unbuilt Capitol Tower in downtown Houston. The signed lease is the go-ahead that New York-based Skanska required to begin going north on the 35-story, 754,000-square-foot office tower.
The bank and developer have been in negotiations for the space since January 2017. Bank of America will move into the tower at 811 Rusk St. (800 Capitol St.) in the first half of 2019. CBRE’s Warren Savery, Kristen Rabel and Rima Soroka represented Skanska. JLL represented Bank of America.
Capitol Tower, designed by Gensler, is the first Houston development to reach LEED v4 Platinum pre-certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, and is one of three core and shell projects nationally that is pre-certified under the standard. The building will use 25% less energy than similar facilities.
