Bixby’s Habitat is Good for Karma
Karma Automotive signed a 262,000-square-foot lease with Bixby Land Company to occupy the entire former Kawasaki USA headquarters in Irvine, CA. Terms of the lease were not disclosed.
Bixby acquired the property last year for $44.25 million, rebranding it as Habitat. The lease pre-empts a $20-million renovation the Newport Beach, CA-based CRE firm planned to transform the project into a contemporary work environment.
Karma, an American car company formerly known as Fisker Automotive, manufactures luxury hybrid plug-in vehicles. It will begin relocating from Costa Mesa later this year. The dynamic, amenity-rich campus will also be home to Karma’s Orange County Brand Experience Center.
CBRE’s Gregg Haly and Jeff Carr represented Bixby in the transaction, while Karma was represented by California Commercial Real Estate Services’ Kevin Leonard and George Okita.
