Beaumont Gets Green Light for 183K-SF MXU

Beaumont Health received permission from the Royal Oak, MI city commission to move ahead on a 183,000-square-foot, mixed-use center at Woodward Avenue and 13 Mile Road. The commission approved a zoning change for the 15-acre site, which now contains the mostly vacant Northwood Shopping Center, which is being demolished.

Construction will begin in summer 2017 on the center, which will consist of five buildings. The as-yet unnamed development will contain a grocery store, a five-story hotel, restaurants and 110,000 square feet of retail. Also on tap is plenty of green space and gardens. The development has a completion date of late 2018.

Southfield, MI-based Beaumont is Michigan’s largest healthcare system, and has owned the property for many years. The revitalization project came from 6,000 residents and Beaumont employees who took place in a survey.
