Barneys New York Now Part of Saks Family

Saks Fifth Avenue quietly and quickly incorporated Barneys into its retail offerings. In an email to customers, a virtual version of the famed luxury retailer recently opened for business.

The email to customers indicated: “As you may have heard, Barneys New York is now part of the Saks family, and Barneys at Saks has launched on saks.com.”

The announcement came less than two months after pieces of Barneys were sold off. Authentic Brands Group bought the rights to the name in bankruptcy proceedings and subsequently licensed it to Saks. Additional licensing deals may be in the works too, and there is an expectation that Barneys will eventually have a physical presence again.

For now, the online version on the Saks site includes a new landing page for Barneys that includes 2,273 items in women’s, men’s, beauty, kids and home. Liquidation sales are underway at Barneys remaining stores, including its flagship Madison Avenue location and online.

Connect Retail West is coming to Newport Coast, CA on Feb. 13. For more information, or to register, click here.
