B6 Markets East Village Home of “the Fifth Ramone”
B6 Real Estate Advisors’ Paul Massey, Zach Redding and Daniel O’Mahony have been retained by the Klosner Family to sell 6 E. 2nd St. at an asking price of $7,250,000. A few buildings in from Joey Ramone Place, the 6,240-square-foot East Village loft apartment was home to Arturo Vega, the Ramones’ creative director.
The legendary punk band played their first show of 1975 at the loft, which also became the crash pad for lead singer Joey Ramone and bassist Dee Dee Ramone. Vega was known as “the fifth Ramone,” and attended all but two of the band’s 2,263 shows from 1974 to 1996.
Renowned for designing the Ramones’ eagle logo, Vega lived in the apartment for decades. He died in 2013; seven years later there’s still a memorial pasted on the door of the apartment.
