Art Installation Coming to Lincoln Yards, One Letter at a Time

Sterling Bay is launching Alphabet Monsters, a public street art installation at Lincoln Yards, the company’s mixed-use development along the North Branch of the Chicago River.

Commissioned from local graffiti artist Merlot, the installation will feature large-scale individual letters of the alphabet displayed on 26 industrially-inspired surfaces throughout the development. It’s set to open in September.

“The launch of Alphabet Monsters at Lincoln Yards represents an exciting step forward in our plans to create a new hub for arts and culture in Chicago,” said Andy Gloor, Sterling Bay’s CEO. “As part of our continued efforts in activating the riverfront along the North Branch, we plan to deliver rotating public art programs such as this one that spotlight local artists and offer unique perspectives to all those who visit Lincoln Yards.”

Alphabet Monsters is the first exhibit from Sterling Bay’s Spectrum initiative to engage local creatives in designing public-based art programs.

Connect Chicago Fall 2019 will take place Oct. 29 in Chicago. For more information, or to register, click here.
